Kelpi commissions local artist

Back in December 2022, Kelpi moved into its first official premises at Science Creates in Old Market, Bristol. Only to find that 3 months later, the team had already outgrown the office space.

Kelpi swiftly moved into a bigger office and subsequently set out to make it their own. After weeks of debate during the weekly team meeting of how to fill the office’s white walls, they found local artist, Bex Glover, who’s work, if you look carefully, can be found scattered around the city of Bristol. Kelpi commissioned Bex to create a unique piece of artwork that would depict Kelpi’s purpose clearly, yet creatively. Her brief was purposefully not overly prescriptive: to show our commitment to marine life and reducing plastic pollution by harnessing the properties of seaweed, whilst giving some hope to what our oceans may look like in years to come through the work that Kelpi and others are working so hard to achieve.

The end result was better than we could have ever imagined. Telling a story from left to right, a plastic-filled ocean scene to a plastic-free one, where seaweed and marine animals not only survive, but thrive.
