Single-use plastic ban creates environment for Kelpi coatings

A new ban on single-use plastics announced today is placing renewed focus on bio-materials to provide alternative packaging.

Kelpi’s innovative coatings for paper and card were featured on BBC TV News this morning as one of the ways in which takeaways, restaurants and cafes will be able in future to eliminate single-use plastics.

BBC Breakfast came to Kelpi’s Bristol labs to explore how our high-performance coatings could help UK takeaways use paper and card packaging as an alternative to the single-use plastics which will be banned in England from October this year.

The ban means that restaurants serving take-away food will have to look at more sustainable solutions. So Kelpi’s high-performance coatings will, in future, be able to provide the barriers to moisture, grease and acid needed to enable paper and card packaging to become the best answer for fish and chips, burgers, kebabs and other takeaways.
